Istockphoto recently launched editorial images along with an article covering acceptable usage.

I finally got around to adding some Chicago editorial stock photos. This is a pretty nice addition because I have a lot of photos that just aren’t suitable as commercial stock photos but would be great as editorial.

When you do a search the results will show the editorial photos with red text as shown here. Oddly, the search doesn’t allow you to pick only editorial images but you can exclude them. They’re apparently not a collection like Vetta or Agency.

Here are a couple of my recently accepted editorial photos. The Chicago Theater sign is trademarked so it can’t be used for commercial purposes but would be great for editorial. Many of these images are also available on Photoshelter as prints.
